Multi-use transport facility employing Penny pay-to-use technology to monitor access, manage room bookings and access, operate truck wash and weighbridge, vacuum cleaner, showers, laundry, caravan power, dump station and campground management.

Park & Ride Facility

This hub for parking, transport and amenities is the first purpose built tourism facility of its kind in NZ. Designed to reduce traffic in the Tongariro national park, catering for visitors walking the Tongariro Crossing and enjoying the Whakapapa ski field nearby. There is a large parking area for day users and a separate secure parking area with power for campers.

KiwiCamp Hokitika

Ngati Waewae are the proud owners of KiwiCamp Hokitika, the first KiwiCamp to be built in and downtown location. The site is a hub for travellers exploring Hokitika and the greater West Coast area. With powered site behind a security gate and parking out front this site is used as a service center and overnight camp.

Waihi Beach KiwiCamp

Built in 2018, KiwiCamp Waihi Beach is a great example of a facility that reduces the impacts of freedom camping in small communities while providing needed services to the community. Popular with locals and travellers alike, the site offers low-cost laundry, showers and cooking facilities with free overnight parking.

Hurunui Campgrounds

This group of 8 community operated sites across the Hurunui District of the South Island. The sites were retro fitted with penny technology in 2023 and have a range of different operating models and services. All are situated on reserve land and overseen by community boards offering a low cost unmanned sites. 

Maitai Valley Camp

This council owned site is managed by Penny who took over the management in June 2025.

The camp has since had extensive restoration work done on the ablution blocks and grounds.

The camp caters for 35 long term sites as well as 200 camp sites both powered and non powered as well as 5 cabins.

A wood fired sauna is currently operating on the site and future plans include wellness options, playground and other hospitality services.

​

The site also plays host to local scout groups and school camps.
